Because they fail separately.
A connected pad with a dead driver looks exactly like a working robot ignoring you. Two lines tell you at a glance whether the problem is the link or the process.
One state worth knowing
paired but NOT trusted: it works now, but will not reconnect after a reboot.
Approving a reconnection needs an agent, and at boot there is none. Re-run pad pair to fix it.
