The most reliable way to tell two ducks apart.

Every robot’s voice bank is generated from its SoC serial, so the one that answers — in a voice that is only its own — is the one you are SSH’d into.

Silence is unambiguous

A robot with no voice — audio off, or no bank — says so rather than printing a duck.

So silence always means the wrong duck. That is what makes this command usable as identification rather than a guess.

Other times it makes noise

• robotd greets when it comes up
• It pecks goodbye before powering off
• It coos when the mic hears its head being scratched — off by default, audio.pet_detect = true turns it on

Pet detection is off by default for a reason: the always-on version cooed at every incidental brush and wore thin.

To silence the startup greet: sudo robotctl configure, set audio.greet = false. That silences the one quack and leaves the triggers and mic alone, which audio.enabled = false does not.
